Nintendo Unveils Minecraft Creeper 2DS LL in Japan

 |  |  |  |  July 4, 2018

Nintendo’s 2DS XL hasn’t made the news much lately, but Japan’s equivalent 2DS LL version just got three new cool models. The first is a Minecraft Creeper edition, based on the bad guys from the popular block building game.

It has a textured shell that is nicely detailed and looking very creeper-chic. It comes with a pre-installed version of Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition of course.

The two other special editions that you sadly can’t buy in the US. The first one includes Animal Crossing Amiibo +, and has a textured green body with a hollowed out leaf in the middle. I have to admit those details are beautiful. The Mario Kart 7 version has a Mario-red border and a kart tire textured back.

If you can somehow get these out of Japan, they should be awesome collector’s items, and the prices are actually pretty good. You’re looking at 16,980 yen (~$153 USD) for the Creeper edition, and 15,980 yen (~$144 USD) each for the other two. There’s no word on whether these models are coming to the US at some point, but don’t hold your breath. Japan always get the cooler stuff and sometimes that is pretty depressing. You can drool over them, but that’s about it.
