Retro loving gamers were very excited when Sony announced its small retro console, the PlayStation Classic. Nintendo has sold huge numbers of its small retro offerings. Now, analysts are predicting that Sony will do VERY well with the PS Classic.

How well? Consumer electronics analyst Michael Patcher predicts that Sony could sell millions of them this holiday season, assuming it can keep up with demand. Nintendo certainly couldn’t with its mini console offerings early on, though they also might have just limited production to make them more desirable and valuable. As it is, we have no reason to think Sony can’t keep up with demand, but that remains to be seen.

If Sony keeps making the consoles, Patcher thinks they could sell 2 to 3 million per year. As for PS Classic sales hurting PS4 sales, Patcher says the target market for the Classic already owns a PS4. Now we just need to know what games the Classic will come with, since it can’t play actual PlayStation CDs.
