The Most Watched Movies On Streaming

Watching movies from home has never been easier. Thanks to the advancements of streaming services, moviegoers can enjoy the latest and greatest Hollywood films from the comfort of their own homes.

Sometimes, that includes recently released movies that bypass theaters entirely. Other times, box office juggernauts are finally making their way to streaming services.

Thanks to JustWatch, we’re recapping this past week’s most streamed movies.

1. The Zone of Interest

Directed by Jonathan Glazer, The Zone of Interest is loosely based on the 2014 novel written by Martin Amis.

The film follows the life of Rudolf Höss, an Auschwitz commandment who lives in the Zone of Interest next to the infamous concentration camp.

It was nominated for four Academy Awards, winning Best International Feature Film and Best Sound.

The Zone of Interest is streaming on Max.

2. Poor Things

Featuring an ensemble cast headlined by Emma Stone, whose performance won the Academy Award for Best Actress, Poor Things is the latest movie from Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos.

Based on the 1992 novel by Alasdair Gray, the movie stars Stone as Bella Baxter, a fetus who was placed in the body of her deceased mother through a brain transplant.

Poor Things is streaming on Hulu.

3. Anatomy of a Fall

Winner of the Palme d’Or and Palm Dog Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, Anatomy of a Fall is a French drama where a wife must prove her innocence around her husband’s death.

Sandra Hüller, who plays the lead character of Sandra Voyter, was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. While she lost to Emma Stone, Anatomy of a Fall still won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Anatomy of a Fall is streaming on Hulu.

4. American Fiction

Based on the 2001 novel Erasure by Percival Everett, American Feature tells the story of a professor who, out of frustration, writes a satire about African-American literature, only for it to become wildly successful.

American Fiction is available on several streaming platforms, including FuboTV and MGM+.

5. Oppenheimer

Winner of Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor at this year’s Academy Awards, Oppenheimer is the latest from acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan.

The biopic follows J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who helped create the atomic bomb during World War II.

Oppenheimer is available to stream on Peacock.

6. Road House

A remake of the 1989 classic starring Patrick Swayze, 2024’s Road House is available on Prime Video and stars Jake Gyllenhaal.

It received mixed reviews, with a consensus that it fails to live up to the legacy of the original movie.

7. Dune

Part one of the movie adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert, Dune, is a massive achievement. Released in 2021, Dune is finding a new audience on streaming services thanks to the theatrical release of Dune Part Two, which concludes the story of the first novel.

8. What Jennifer Did

The Netflix documentary focuses on Jennifer Pan, a Canadian woman convicted in 2010 for hiring an assassin to kill her parents. The hit on her mother was successful, while her father was injured.

Pan was found guilty on multiple charges and is facing life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

9. Scoop

The 2024 British drama is a dramatic retelling of the events leading to Prince Andrew’s 2019 BBC television interview.

Its title centers around the “scoop of the decade,” which opened the door around the revelations of Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

10. Dream Scenario

Nicolas Cage, who plays a biology professor, begins appearing in everyone’s dreams.

While the movie failed to deliver box office results, it found an audience after its release on streaming services. Cage was nominated at the Golden Gloves for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
