sony srs-ax10 speakers: the aliens have landed

Maybe it’s just me, but latest desktop speakers from Sony remind me of something out of the original War of the Worlds movie. The new SRS-AX10 speaker system offers a bold design that floats its speaker drivers in the air.

While they’ll probably look pretty good alongside your computer, I can’t imagine that the 1-watt per channel amplifiers will be able to keep up with much more than the most basic listening needs. Still, Sony claims that the speakers offer “accurate sound reproduction,” whatever that means. They also offer dual audio inputs, so you could connect your computer and a media player at the same time.

If looks are more important to you than volume, you might want to give these a listen. They’re available now from the Sony Style store for about 50 bucks.
