It’s true that the original Game Boy is a timeless piece of portable video gaming. Heck, I know that I spent countless hours trying to beat my best at Tetris. In this great little hack, the familiar green screen is gone. Why? Well, Flickr user CRTdrone modded his original Game Boy so that it now has the innards of the slightly more modern GBA SP.

That’s not all, it can still play all Game Boy games, from Game Boy Color to Game Boy Advance. This Game Boy to rule all Game Boys has got an internal rechargeable battery to bring it up to date with modern handheld standards.

CRTdrone promises to post more build photos as well as a ‘How to’ in the near future. That’s going to be fun, I’m sure. Someday, I’d like to see a Nintendo DS hacked to fit inside one of these, but somehow I doubt that will ever happen.
