Beards for Dummies: a Chart Clarifying Beards to Non-Geeks

Online Schools is back with another great chart. This time around, they tackled the the history of the beard. We all know that a lot of geeks often sport a ludicrous amount of facial hair. This is the perfect guide for aspiring geekettes and geeks to make their way through this tangled and hairy maze of confusion.

beards geeks chards wear facial hair

For some reason, I’m reading this chart with the voice of Conan the Barbarian in my head. No beard = dishonor! Alexander the Great made shaving popular, as he didn’t like people grabbing onto his beard while slaying them. Seems appropriately savage. Being a coward was a crime in Sparta. No shit!

So the next time you go hanging out with some bearded dudes, take a look at this handy chart so you know what you’re dealing with. Personally, I’ve been sporting a ‘circle beard’ or goatee for as long as I can remember. I tend to keep it short. How about you?

Hey, don’t want to sound geeky or something, but what does Alexander the Great have to do with Sparta?

Nothing! It’s just some fun facts. Obviously, historically speaking, men where bearded in the Antiquity. It’s interesting to notice that it’s pretty much the opposite now, as most men don’t wear any facial hair. I guess it also depends on the country.
