Lenovo Outs Laptop Arcade Casemod at CES

While I was trolling through the aisles at tonight’s CES preview event, I stumbled onto this oddity in the corner of Lenovo’s booth…

This casemod hides the laptop’s keyboard underneath the arcade controls, and connects to the laptop with a single USB cable. Once the joystick and buttons are flipped into place, the laptop’s hi-res screen works as the arcade game display.

There’s also a secondary keyboard drawer that slides out from underneath the arcade controls, letting you still use it as a computer even with the laptop’s keyboard obscured. The mod was built by Dean Liou of Envador.com, and uses an IdeaPad Y560 as the heart of the system. Here’s a video that Dean shot of the system a little while back:

Given that this is the best thing I’ve seen at a Lenovo booth in a long time, I was hoping they might actually turn it into a product, but no such luck.

  1. Lenovo IdeaPad S9 says:

The reliability with an IBM/Lenovo machine is really really good….the range in particular. They just are so much more good as well as being more lightweight than the dells.
