TARDIS Socks: No Bigger on the Inside than Out, Still Bigger at the Calf than Ankle
July 11th, 2011
While I have trouble calling any sock a spin-off sock, that’s what creator and knitter Ellen Botilda calls her TARDIS tribute socks. They were based on another pattern, but slightly altered. Now, all that I have to find is someone who will knit a pair of these for me!

Swallowed by Sky made the first TARDIS socks, but Ellen played with the design a bit before making her own. I don’t knit, so I don’t know how hard this is, but the best part is that the pattern is available for free here. Apparently they are easy to make if you do know how to knit.
I think what I like best is the patterning on this sock. It’s not just the colors that are used to show the paneling on the TARDIS, but the windowpane pattern is reproduced through the knit itself.

Did you find someone? I desperately want to buy a pair, cause I don’t knit either!
I’m so glad you like my socks Range! Just let me know your shoe size and address and I will hook you up with a pair! I plan to make a few to go on Etsy, but not for another month or so.
Wow, that just made my day Ellen. Thanks, I sent you my info via email!
Oh, please, Ellen!!
It’s my best friend’s birthday, next month, and he’s absolutely addicted to Doctor Who, not to mention he has a thing for socks, so it would be the perfect present!!
I’ll try to have another pair ready for next month, but I can’t promise right now (lots to do).
What date is the birthday?
Drop me a message at [email protected] so we can try to get some socks on you friend!
