Update 10/14/2012: Now that the Red Bull Stratos is complete, you can view an archived copy of the jump below… If you’re paying attention to daredevil Felix Baumgartner and his desire to jump out of a pressurized capsule 23 miles above the surface, you may have noticed that he didn’t make the didn’t make the jump earlier this week.

We’ve already seen a LEGO version of Batman’s base. But while that one opted for a vertical build, Carlyle Livingston II and Wayne Hussey chose to make their Batcave sprawl lengthwise. It’s crammed with wonderful details just waiting to be discovered.

Microsoft unwittingly kicked off a revolution in multi-touch and 3D tracking when it released the Kinect. It seems the company is still innovating on those fronts, as it has teamed up with researchers from Newcastle University to create a wrist-mounted sensor that tracks the wearer’s hand movements.

For starters, I’ll go on record to say that I’m a big DirecTV fan. Having tried Comcast’s abysmal cable box UI and DVR, and knowing the fact that Dish doesn’t have AMC anymore is enough to keep me a loyal subscriber for many years.

Littering is bad. We all know that. Throwing trash in streets is just asking for trouble. Not only does it make the world an uglier place, but it also clogs street drains which could result in floods and all sorts of other crap.

James Bond has had some pretty amazing vehicles over the years. At least one cool ride per movie, if you ask me. If you are a fan of 007 and a fan of miniature vehicles, you are going to want this awesome set.

If you love clothes and happen to a fan of geeky stuff like Star Wars, then I’m pretty sure you’ve already heard of Black Milk Clothing by now. They’re behind the uber-sexy TARDIS mini dress and leggings and a series of awesome geeky swimsuits featuring C-3PO, Pac-Man, and R2-D2.

Over the last few years, we haven’t seen the kind of gains in computing speed that one might expect if you’re strictly following Moore’s Law. We’re beginning to run into limits on the frequency of any single CPU or GPU, and one of the modern ways to get past this limitation is through the use of parallel computing architectures.

I grew up reading a whole lot of Dr. Seuss. I also happen to be a huge Star Wars fan. So you can understand my excitement when I saw three limited-edition prints by former Disney animator and character artist Jason Peltz that combined these two together in the most seamless way possible.

Minecraft Forum member Rumsey made a full-scale replica of the World of Warcraft map made of Minecraft blocks. He wrote a custom application that automatically voxelized every bit of WoW, “down to the last tree stump”, to create a Minecraft map made of 68 billion blocks.

People put weird and inappropriate stuff up for auction on eBay all the time. Remember the woman who wanted to sell her soul on eBay? Or the multitudes of sellers who sold enchantments and potions online (before eBay forbade them to, that is.)

Hammacher Schlemmer is a high priced purveyor of all sorts of oddities and cool gadgets. One of my all-time favorite weird items from the company is the 20-foot long animatronic triceratops. The company has unveiled a new product this week that is a bit more useful than a giant dinosaur toy.

Forget all of the complicated parts on your bicycle. The gears,the chain,the frame. Sure, they seem important, but you really don’t need them. The Bicymple is as uncomplicated as a bike can get.

Leave it to Japan to come up with something like Soineya. It’s the newest cafe in town and it’s probably the only of its kind in the world. That’s because instead of offering juice or coffee or sandwiches, Soineya serves up hugs and cuddles instead.
