Back in 2014, we first talked about LightMode kits, which let you put glowing lights on your motorcycle helmet and look like TRON cruising down the road. There were some annoyances with that original kit for some folks like the boxy design of the controller and the fact that you needed AA batteries. LightMode Kits Redesigned have landed on Kickstarter and it addresses both of those issues.
This time out, the control box is more aerodynamic, and water resistant. The connectors are also smaller and easier to use. The big change is that power now comes from a USB charger and internal battery. I’m not sure that is a good thing though. A rechargeable means that if you are on a long ride and your glow goes dead, you can’t just pop-in new AA batteries and keep your Lightcycle going.
The electroluminescent lights are compatible with any helmet, and can be custom mounted in a design of your choice.
The kits have already busted their Kickstarter goal and you can currently order a LightMode kit for about $112(USD) with shipping estimated for May 2017.
