Of all the science fiction/horror films out there, the Alien franchise has always been my favorite. I’ve always particularly like the original Alien film and the 1986 follow-up Aliens. If you’re a fan of that flick, you probably already know that a video game called Aliens: Colonial Marines is coming on February 12, 2013.

With the release of Prometheus just weeks away, it’s easy to forget about the classic Alien and Aliens films which created the universe in which the new film is set. But I can assure you that if you buy this gun, there’s no way you’ll forget about Aliens.

I have always liked both Alien and Predator – at least individually. When they were first combined, it wasn’t a stellar result, but this chess set looks pretty awesome. It will allow you to pit your own Aliens versus Predators and see who will come out on top.

This is just wild to me. I mentioned way back in August that SETI had raised the money needed to continue operating. Generally, they search the heavens for proof of an alien life by picking up radio signals.

I love the old Alien movies. Even Alien Vs. Predator. This game may not have any Predators in it, but it looks like it still rocks.

Now, it’s been more than 20 years since Aliens hit the big screen, but that doesn’t make this movie-accurate prop Pulse Rifle any less awesome. The guys over at ThinkGeek got their hands on these limited edition replica guns which are completely faithful to the weapons wielded in James Cameron’s classic sci-fi actioner.

When it comes to DIY stuff, the most I can muster is following the directions well enough to bolt a new gadget together. If it comes to actually making all those parts you have to put together I know better than to try.

Even though “cute aliens” are the idea behind Franco Brambilla‘s art, what I really find interesting is the funny vignettes into which Brambilla has injected these Star Wars vehicles and ships. I’ve never considered an AT-AT or an AT-ST cute, but these paintings, which are supposed to look like postcards, made me chuckle.
