I like sword fights as much as the next guy. I mean, maybe I like them more. I’m not into renaissance fairs or LARPing, but I did take fencing way back in the day. I also rather like movies and video games with sword fights because they look cool.

In Sumo wrestling, two fat dudes wearing tiny outfits try to push each other out of the ring. It’s a lot of weight, and a lot of flab flying around the round ring. Robots don’t have to worry about packing on the pounds.

If you think robot fights are clumsy and silly, YouTuber Team Velocity is here to prove you wrong. He recently shared one of his matches at this year’s RoboGames, and it is a fast-paced and brutal affair.

I always loved playing with Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots when I was a kid. I also have always loved electronic gadgets. Thanks to the power of technology, I can now play with both at the same time.

What do you get when you combine robotics with art, engineering, sport and a love of furniture? You get table fighting. The crazy sport where tables face off in the ring. Tables fight to the death while humans watch on and probably make wagers.

Sony has announced that it’s working on a new video game called PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. As the title suggests, this video game will have characters from some of the coolest and most popular games that have ever hit the PlayStation series of game consoles.

Developers Fatshark and Paradox just released a trailer for the upcoming game War of the Roses. I was sold on this game as soon as I saw the guy getting stabbed in the eye. The game is currently being developed and it is like a first person shooter that is also historical.

Yesterday we saw a fan made 2D fighter featuring Pokémon. Here’s something that everypony can get behind: another fan-made 2D fighter, this time featuring the characters from the cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Last year, Nintendo and Japanese developer Tecmo Koei threw Pokémon fans a curveball when they announced that the popular series will have a crossover tactical RPG for the Nintendo DS. It’s not such a bad or radical idea if you think about it, but if Pokémon is going to evolve into another type of game, this project by a dedicated fan makes much more sense.

If you are rich enough to afford your own battling robots, these Bionic Bopper Cars will be your next purchase. You and a friend can battle with these motorized robots. They allow you to stand inside the protective cage and throw punches like a large game of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.

As far as old school fighting games go, you can’t do much better than Street Fighter II. Well, we have some good news for iPhone users who love that classic game. Capcom Mobile has released both Final Fight and the Street Fighter II Collection for iDevices.

Into fighting games, but don’t think the PS3’s DualShock controller is right for dealing out the ultimate beat-down? Don’t want to have a giant arcade stick on your lap either? Then you might want to check out this controller, optimized for fighting games, but that still fits in the palm of your hand.

I am a big fan of the UFC and I have been looking forward to seeing Rampage beat the bejeebers out of Rashad Evans since the two coached the Ultimate Fighter. Rampage had to put the fight off to be in the new A-Team flick but the fight is finally set for May 29.

Rubber Ninjas, originally released for OS X, is available at last for PC users. Okay, it really didn’t take that long (a few months), and you’ve probably never even heard of Rubber Ninjas anyway. I just wanted to highlight that we got something before you guys did for once.

So you probably love Street Fighter. Who doesn’t? Crazy moves, the classic Hadouken, Chun Li’s crazy man hands. Well, guess what? Now you can wile away the hours playing Street Fighter in your browser… for free.
