Build Your Own Lightsaber
Were those lightsaber laser pointers just too tiny to satisfy your man-sized Star Wars hunger? Then wrap your hands around one of these full-sized lightsaber replicas which you can actually customize to your own liking. The Force FX Lightsaber Contstruction Kit gives you everything you need to create your own blade.

Aqualia LED Desk Lamp: Metal, Modern, Mine.

Aqualia LED Desk Lamp: Metal, Modern, Mine.
I’ve been on the hunt for some decent illumination for my work area, but haven’t really been impressed with the desk lamps I’ve come across in my travels. That is, until now. This beautiful lighting fixture combines good looks, modern technology and is energy efficient. Alliance Optotek’s Aqualia lamp uses a dozen bright LEDs to provide ample lighting for any work area.

Your Message in Light Emitting Diodes

Your Message in Light Emitting Diodes
Want to get your point across? Why not say it with light? This new kit lets you create your own custom LED light board using any pattern you want. The whole thing reminds me of a modern-day Lite-Brite. The latest Open Source creation from Evil Mad Science Labs, “Peggy” gives you the parts you need to make a pixelated grid of LEDs in any design your little heart desires. Peggy is named for her 25 x 25 pegboard which can hold up to 625 LEDs in place for your custom signs.

LED Alarm Clock is Pure as the Driven Snow

LED Alarm Clock is Pure as the Driven Snow
I just love the clean, minimal design of this white-on-white LED clock from Japan. The simple dot-matrix display is powered by bright white LEDs layered beneath a clear and white acrylic shell. The clock offers alarm capability, and can be automatically set via a radio signal (although it’s possible this feature only works in Japan).

Moonlight Speakers Project Sound and Light

Moonlight Speakers Project Sound and Light
At first glance, you’d look at these pictures and think that these were some pretty cool lighting fixtures. You’d be right. But in addition to casting a warm glow, these illuminated orbs are actually speakers. Moonlight’s light globes conceal speakers which can handle from 120 to 200 watts of amplification — more than enough to pack some serious punch.

Skull Speakers: How Jack Sparrow Listens to His iPod

Skull Speakers: How Jack Sparrow Listens to His iPod
Taking a page out of The Pirates of the Carribean, these speakers look like something you might find lying around in Davy Jones’ Locker at the bottom of the sea. These skulls may look olde and crusty(e?),

Message Tape Mimics Digital Displays

Message Tape Mimics Digital Displays
This cool decorative tape lets you leave messages by blacking out the the white areas. A brilliantly simple design concept, the tape works in pretty much any language thanks to its free-form display concept. Perfect for labeling boxes, temporary signage, creating impromptu artworks or modern graffiti, the tape comes in either a dot-matrix or segmented style.

Lightsaber Laser Pointers: You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid.

Lightsaber Laser Pointers: You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid.
If you thought those lightsaber bedside lamps were a bit too over the top, these pocket-sized sabers are a bit easier to handle. Designed to look like the ones donned by Star Wars villains Darth Vader and Darth Maul, these mini lightsabers are actually laser pointers. They slip onto any keychain, and project a tiny red laser beam.

LED Lighting Gets Flat

LED Lighting Gets Flat
These minimal lighting fixtures actually are designed to be shipped flat, like a postcard. Each lamp is actually a laser-cut sheet of aluminum with an embedded LED illumination source and powered by a single button battery. Created by Dutch designer Sander Mulder (formerly of revered design house Buro Vormkrijgers), the Eureka lamp is completely self-contained, and can be easily mailed in an envelope, then hung from the ceiling using string or wire. Alas, the brilliant Eureka lamp is still just a prototype concept, and has not been produced for the masses.

Lightsaber Lamps for True Star Wars Geeks

Lightsaber Lamps for True Star Wars Geeks
I’ll start out by saying that I’ve always enjoyed the Star Wars franchise (except for the Ewoks and Jar Jar), but I’ve never as nuts about the series as say, that girl on American Idol last night who showed up for the audition wearing a Princess Leia outfit, hair buns and all.

Macbook Air Price, Specs, Release Date Revealed

Macbook Air Price, Specs, Release Date Revealed
After much speculation and hype, Apple today announced their new ultra-slim laptop, the MacBook Air. Measuring just 0.16″ to 0.76″ thick (when closed), the 3-pound machine is touted as the “world’s thinnest laptop”. The new MacBook Air features a striking aluminum case design, and is skinny enough to fit inside of a standard manilla envelope.

Lazy Man’s Holiday Lights Stay Up All Year Long

Lazy Man’s Holiday Lights Stay Up All Year Long
Christmas is behind us, but if you’re like me, your lights probably stay up until some time in April (or until all the ice has melted). I actually pray each year that everything but the purple, green and gold bulbs will burn out so I could say we had decorated for Mardi Gras.

Oregon Scientific Intros Futuristic Weather Forecaster

Oregon Scientific Intros Futuristic Weather Forecaster
This new digital weather forecaster from Oregon Scientific offers retro-future styling that make it look like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. With it’s curvy egg-shaped design, modern typography and bold icons, it’s a definite nod to 1960s space-age futurism.

Rgby Color-Sensing Tech Goes Portable

Rgby Color-Sensing Tech Goes Portable
Remember the oh-so-cool RGBy Desk I showed you a few weeks back? The desk uses color sensors and tons of RGB LEDs to change colors to match items placed on top of it. But it was a one-of-a-kind piece that would probably cost thousands of dollars even if you could buy one.
