After years of being someone else’s steed, Yoshi finally gets his own ride, thanks to custom action figure maker/Flickr user/Nintendo super fan Donald aka Kodykoala. I love the details on his custom Yoshi mech, from the bolt-like markings to the scratches and faded paint.

After being around for 25 years, it’s no surprise that a lot of things come to mind when a gamer thinks of Mario. Josh Mirman brilliantly captures the hero’s rich history with his drawing, “A Very Wordy Hero”: What’s Luigi got to do to be remembered?!

Arcosur, a Spanish neighborhood currently in development, is now the proud home of Avenida de Super Mario Bros. (Super Mario Bros. Avenue). Mario himself visited Arcosur, and danced to a violin and cello rendition of the Super Mario Bros.

Yet more proof that awesome things never happen where I live. Vooks community member Excite posted these photos of the “History of Super Mario Bros.” caravan, which stopped at Parramatta in New South Wales, Australia. Even though the caravan was modest, to say the least, especially considering that this is Mario and Nintendo we’re talking about, it did have plenty of stuff to offer.

Now that we’ve seen Mario with his clothes off, what else could you possibly ask for next? How about a look at his innards? Well, it is the Internet, and there is something for everyone out there, right?

It turns out that our little Super Mario is celebrating his 25th birthday this week. How cool is that? Do you remember the first time you played a Mario game? My first time was with the original Super Mario Bros.

For some reason, I don’t remember The Shining playing out exactly this way. But then again, I had to close my eyes once the blood started pouring out of the elevator and that wrinkly naked lady showed up.

Looks like Bowser’s finally decided to step up the security in his castle: Where’s a Starman when you need one?

You’ve gotta love these ultra-minimal graphics of Bowser (with his back to us), Luigi, Mario and Princess Peach by Nick Luckett. The Street Fighter ones by infinitecontinues which inspired Nick to create his ain’t half bad either.

Have you ever had video game-like dreams? Mike aka OrinCreed had one such dream. Fortunately, he and his friends were able to translate his dream into a video. Mike says I Dream in Retro is “based heavily on a dream I had that was caused by a long day of playing NES, SNES, and Genesis.

Sit back, relax and crank up the volume for these awesome clips video game music and sound effects played on violin by artist Teppei Okada. Okada’s musical timing is so impeccable that I only wish these had been the soundtracks to the original games.
