Two North California sisters, inspired by a documentary, decided to make a Mars Rover by themselves with help from their dad Robert Beatty. Now, 13-year-old Camille Beatty’s and 11-year-old Genevieve’s remote-controlled replica of the Mars Spirit rover is being exhibited at the New York Hall of Science.
For YouTube’s Geek Week, Tested interviewed robotics enthusiast Mike McMaster about his remote-controlled and life-size Wall-E replica. McMaster is part of the Wall-E Builder’s Club, a group of hobbyists who started planning on building a replica of the lovable robot even before his movie came out.
While this R/C car technically doesn’t run solely on water, it’s still a pretty interesting scientific toy to have around. This new revision of the hydrogen-powered R/C car is more energy efficient and cheaper than the 2008 original.

Watching this video of this guy making his own model of the Starship Enterprise D – then making it fly – is truly inspirational. It is a fully functional R/C model. It’s even illuminated by super bright LEDs and fiber optics.

A company called Clearpath Robotics Inc. recently unveiled its bot of burden, the Grizzly. The four-wheeled robot can go faster and carry much more load than its most famous counterparts, Boston Dynamics’ BigDog and Alpha Dog.
