A Look At Disney’s ‘Dreams That Soar’ 800-Drone Air Show

With over 17 years of writing experience, Jonathan has had a passion for all things tech-related, ever since watching Inspector Gadget as a child. He's disassembled countless appliances and managed to put a few back together, and one still works. When not writing, he can often be found playing video games or accidentally hurting himself in the garage.

With shows running all summer at Disney Springs in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, the ‘Dreams that Soar’ drone show features 800 synchronized drones creating various Disney characters and animations in the sky above the lake at the giant shopping and dining complex. The nightly shows begin at 9:00 PM and 10:45 PM and will surely be a hit with children out past their bedtime and adults alike.

Each show runs approximately 10 minutes and features several characters from Disney movies, including Peter Pan, Dumbo, WALL-E and EVE, Buzz Lightyear, the Mandalorian and Grogu, and more. Many characters are also animated, so they appear to move in the sky instead of just being static images. That was a nice touch. The characters are accompanied by audio clips from their respective movies playing over loudspeakers.

Would I like to see the drone show myself? Of course I would, but I don’t have the time to take a vacation. Or the money. I can’t even afford a staycation, and staycations are free! I need a side hustle.
