Construct Your Own Creepy Metal Spider with a Plasma Ball Abdomen

He's disassembled countless appliances and managed to put a few back together, and one still works. When not writing, he can often be found playing video games or accidentally hurting himself in the garage.

The brainchild of Gearsvibe, the 3D Metal Puzzle Plasma Spider Lamp is a 627-piece kit that, when successfully constructed, results in your very own blade-footed spider with a plasma ball for an abdomen. They call it a puzzle, but it’s not really a puzzle because it comes with assembly instructions. Although now that I think about it, even with those, its assembly will probably still be a puzzle to me.

Currently, an already-funded Kickstarter campaign, your pledge of $79 (early bird) or $99 will get you a kit when they begin shipping in March 2024. I’ve got to say I have a previous iteration of their spider (sans plasma ball) but have not begun assembly yet. I probably have already managed to lose some of the little pieces, though.

The spider also has moveable and posable legs and two LED eyes. I’ve never actually owned a plasma ball before, but I’ve always wanted one ever since playing with them every time I went to Spencer’s as a teen. Those were the days, weren’t they? The days when you thought a plasma ball was just the bedroom accessory you would need in the future to impress the ladies.
