The Ultimate LEGO Build: the LEGO Crawler Town
February 22nd, 2010
There’s just something about awesome LEGO builds that I just love, especially when they don’t involve kits. This amazing build is by Dave DeGobbi. He calls it Crawler Town.

It kind of reminds me of Howl’s Moving Castle, one of the more recent Studio Ghibli movies. Or better yet, Fallout 3. This thing is basically a town on wheels that will move around to find new resources.

“Crawler town roams the barren wastes of a post steampunk world after cataclysmic climate change do to excessive coal use. Several such cities exist but Crawler town is the most popular due to the Aero 500 hydrogen fuel cell Air races that are held. Many people travel the wastes to Crawler town for vacation and to enjoy rare luxuries like Pizza, fresh vegetables and Beer. Traveling the wastes in search of minerals and aquifers (vital for survival) the mobility of the city keeps it away from the vicious sand storms of the wastes.”

This sure is a dystopic vision of the future, as these large crawlers travel around a barren world, moving from place to place, acquiring resources wherever they go. I find it just plain awesome.

Why would the post-apocalyptic people waste their hydrogen fuel on races? Then again, we also waste our fossil fuels on all kinds of races. I guess some things will never change.
War… War never changes. Just ask Ron Pearlman.
When hydrogen is created by seperating oxygen and hydrogen from water, when its burned its conerted back to water… there is no waste!
Hydrogen Fuel is very promising, i only hope that we can mass produce soon enough.-,,
i agree. we should start puting hydrogen fuel into mass production now, or in the futer when all recourses run out well be like: “oh no! we have used up all the minerells! i have plans for a crawler town but we need hydrogen fuel to work it! and to get to the hydrogen we need certain machines, but they have been destroyd by vicious sandstorms! and to make more of the machines we need minerals! but we dont have any! were all gonna die!!!”
hydrogen fueled vehicles are the best but they are still not widely available.:.,
i think that the best fuel that we can use is Hydrogen, this does not product polluting gases at all.”-
would you sell it and is it still bulded
god that guy has alot of imagination! the thought of an intire town driving around a wastland is a bit spooky. and even spookier if theres carnivorous creatures living on the surface. (shiver). you know this would be a great idea for a sci-fi movie. if they did make a movie of it, it would proberbly be like that movie C.A.R.G.O. (that movie also has that sort of spooky, cold, emptiness feeling.) anyway, its absolutely AWSOME!
Looks a little like London in Mortal Engines!
LOL
Seriously! Imagine…
