These unique lighting fixtures out of Germany reuse old dead light bulbs to create dramatic sculptural lamps.

Bulb Lamp by Bulbs Unlimited

Bulbs Unlimited sells kits that let you create fixtures like the ones pictured here from your own recycled bulbs. The kits include everything you need to make these cool designer fixtures except for the bulbs themselves. A special bulb marking template, adhesive and “snaps” let you arrange your bulbs into a variety of cool shapes and sizes, including desk lamps and hanging fixtures.

They also offer pre-built “Light Objects” which have already been made into a lamp that you just snap together when it arrives.

Kits range in price from about 12,95€ (appx. $18 USD) all the way up to 89,95€ (appx. $122 USD), depending on the complexity of the design.

this is intriguing. i like the idea, but how do you change the light bulb if it’s in the middle of the “lamp?” do you have to disassemble the whole thing?

    Wicked cool…

But I’d never have one in my possession though. Its like one of those crazy things you’d rather sell to get some money for the new 3:10 to Yuma DVD, but would never think of buying one for yourself.

+ I’m from the 3-rd World..art is dead to us unless it edible.

Nice waste of energy. That’s right, let’s give the light surfaces to bounce off and more chances to get absorbed and turned into heat before actually illuminating the place.

    Kal,

You have a chance to impress us with your insight, and you choose to take a stand against lampshades?

We’ve had one of these for some time now and its pretty cool, we’ve got a square one and when the bulb’s dead you just hang it from another one.

kinda hurting. It’s hard enough for me to not break a lightbulb by itself I can’t imagine 10-30 at once..

Why stop with dead light bulbs. Use old dead appliances like I do. Visit Electrolights.com and see what I mean.

I am looking for some of those LED light bulbs so I can save some money. They are so cool, and they are good for the environment as well. I’m going to have to do some price comparisons online for them.
