Seals Technology Rugged Mobile Phone Will Tell People Where You Are
October 24th, 2010
The most dangerous thing about my job is being harassed by a web troll. Some folks, on the other hand, have the sort of jobs where they are out in a hostile environment alone and if they get hurt no one is around to help them. For these sorts of folks a phone like the iPhone won’t cut it, they need something like the Seals Technology VR7.
The VR7 is a very rugged GSM mobile phone that is dustproof with grade 6 certification to prevent any dust from getting inside. It’s waterproof to grade 7 making it submersible in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It also has integrated GPS and the cool thing about that feature is if you are in the middle of nowhere and break your leg the phone will automatically send your GPS coordinates to five numbers to get you help if you can’t talk.
The phone also supports navigation, conference calling, and has a compass built-in. The device can also access email, has a built-in flashlight, weather forecasting app, and a speaker that is extra loud for noisy environments. It also claims to be able to live through drops onto concrete from up to 2 meters high.
