I am a fan of the purveyor of oddities known as Quirky. The company has some of the coolest and strangest things you never really need, but want nonetheless. The latest offering from the company is the Mantis.
The crowd-designed Mantis is a clip-on task light that can be attached to your desktop PC screen or your notebook LCD. The light has 11 LEDs to sip power and still provide lots of light. The device also has flip out legs that allow you to stand it on your desk if needed.
The power for those 11 LEDs comes from a pair of AA batteries that are good for 30 hours of use. The light also turns itself off after two hours of use to conserve power.
Quirky is taking pre-orders now and will start building the device once 1500 are ordered. Right now there are only about 100 spoken for, and they sell for $26.99.
