It’s kind of amazing the amount of detail that Ray Cannon is able to capture with his needle-felted designs. While I’ll probably never try this, I can appreciate the hard work that went into this. Ray makes quite a few different things with his needles, including this incredible E.T.
Ray has been at it for about a year. He had experience with molding with Scupley (a sort of polymer-based clay), which is similar to needle felting without needing to carve the actual form. Lately he’s been busy creating detailed needle-felted animals, E.Ts, Yodas and other stuff.
Ray Cannon’s art will be on display at Cast Away in Santa Rosa, tonight, Thursday, May 5th from 6 to 8PM. He will on hand to demonstrate his awesome techniques!
