Some guy with too much time on his hands developed this painstakingly accurate menu system based on the Wii interface, coined “WiiOS.” The menu system is a very faithful reproduction of the Wii menu system, and he’s got it all tied together with his Wii-mote to let him control some emulated console games on his PC.

One thing sorely lacking from Sony’s SIXAXIS controller for the PS3 is the rumble sensation that’s present in pretty much all of the other major gaming systems out there. Sony claimed they left it out due because it interfered with the systems motion sensors, but conventional wisdom tells us that a legal dispute between Sony and Immersion kept the controllers rumble-free.

Microsoft today announced what’s in store for the Xbox 360’s Live Arcade download service, and it looks like there’s some pretty good stuff coming down the pike in the near future. Here’s a list of the games that we can expect in the coming weeks and months (release dates weren’t specified): 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures, from developer Wanako Games and publisher Sierra Online, allows gamers to putt their way through 36 fun-filled holes of manic mini-golf action on wild courses that range from the Old West to outer space and feature a bevy of crazy hazards and obstacles.

Having trouble unlocking those oh-so-pesky achievements on your Xbox 360 games? Now you can generate your own custom achievements with this fun achievement generator web application. The guys over at Technology-Ninja put together this tool that lets you make any silly achievement badge you’d like.

The folks over at Boing Boing dug up this fun little stop-motion video features a handful of arcade classics, brought to life through the magic of candle-mation (that is, animation done completely with tealight candles). Pac-man, Pong, Space Invaders and Tetris all make an appearance, along with a nice little musical Mario tribute.

This nifty add-on for the Xbox 360 combines additional cooling like Nyko’s Intercooler, but also adds some other nice bells and whistles to the back of the console. The Gamexpert Cooler King adds direct-connect video outputs to the back of your Xbox 360, including VGA, component, S-video and composite, as well a digital optical output for surround sound.

Ever since the Sony PSP came out about 2 years ago, it’s gotten a pretty bad rap for its relative lack of quality gaming titles, especially when compared to the Nintendo DS. Sure, a handful of innovative games like Lumines and LocoRoco have made their way onto the portable, but for every one good game, there are twenty stinkers.

This little USB controller has a fun little trick up its sleeve. The Pocket Gamepad is hinged in the middle, folds in half and flips shut for maximum portability. The compact game controller measures just 3.93″ x 1.81″ x 0.47″ when opened and about half that width and twice that depth when folded up.

One of the great things about all of the current-gen gaming consoles is the ability to add new content and features through online downloads. Nintendo today released the News Channel on the Nintendo Wii. The News Channel features live feeds from the Associated Press.

The faux pas of the day comes to us courtesy of master of all things Xbox, Major Nelson. Apparently, some junior web developer over at Sony mistakenly used a screenshot of the Xbox hit racing game, Project Gotham Racing 3 in an advertisement for Gran Turismo 4.

Since the Sony PlayStation 3 hit shelves back in November, it’s been racked with complaints about a huge bug with PS2 backwards compatibilty. Specifically, the PS3 would screw up the graphics on non-progressive scan PS2 titles (of which there are many), by creating odd artifacts on every other vertical line of images.

Now this is what I call a truly third-hand rumor… MaxConsole is reporting that GameFront is saying that an article in Japanese Game Labo magazine claims that Nintendo is working on a new remote controller for the Wii gaming console.

Rather than solving such important challenges as delivering quality games, fixing the awful PlayStation Network interface, or working out the nasty bugs in the system’s PS2 backwards compatibility, Sony has announced that they’ll be releasing an exciting new add-on for the PlayStation 3 console… drum-roll please….

The answer is simple… The Pac-Man bathroom. Located in the independent gaming store, Game Junkie in West Chester, Ohio, this bathroom is decked out with a Ms. Pac-Man mosaic tile design. I particularly appreciate the scoring chart detail to the right of the mirror.

Major Nelson, Microsoft’s inside man on all things Xbox, is reporting that after numerous delays and much anticipation, the downloadable demo of Crackdown will be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace for download on next Tuesday, January 23rd at 2:00 Pacific Time.
