We can always count on the guys over at TokyoFlash to come up with new and different ways to tell the time. With their modern approach to product design, they’re now asking shoppers to weigh in on prospective designs before they go ahead and create the real watches.

No, these bug-eyed critters aren’t going to bite. On the contrary – these insect-inspired mini robots are actually quite harmless. In between farming blueberry crops, Adam Claflin of MiddleCreekMerchants makes the little Wigglebot robots (shown above) from a few bent wires for legs, a coin battery for a body, and a pair of colorful LEDs for eyes.

These gigantic origami tigers signal the beginning of another Year of the Tiger, which will be shortly coming up after Chinese New Year on February 14th. These origami tigers were designed by the Australian firm LAVA and they were made to raise the awareness of tigers as an endangered species.

The new Sony BRAVIA XBR-60LX900, XBR-52LX900, XBR-46LX900 and XBR40LX900 have a feature I haven’t come across on any other set yet. You’ve got to hand it to Vizio. 10 years ago, these guys were barely a blip on the radar screen, and now they’re one of the dominant players in the television business. Now they’ve got a new TV that’s gonna have you running to the store to return that new set you just got for Christmas.

This colorful saucer-shaped creature is the coolest lighting fixture I’ve seen in a long time. The Yantouch Jellyfish definitely resembles the body of the gooey undersea creature that it’s named for, but lights up in many more colors than its cnidarian doppelgangers.

At this week’s upcoming CES show, I fully expect to see thinner television sets than I’ve ever seen before. Now a new LED backlight technology could allow sets to get even slimmer and cheaper to produce.
