Philips is always working on new lighting technologies, and is a big proponent of OLED as one of the many new ways we might be lighting our homes and offices in the future. The artists of rAndom International have been showing off a really cool interactive display using Philips’ Lumiblade OLED lighting tech at the Design Miami ’11 art show this week.

After using the robot as a gesture-controlled music player, the makers of Qbo have set higher goals for their highly programmable robot. By equipping a Qbo unit with object recognition capabilities, they were able to teach it to recognize its own reflection.

I don’t understand the concept behind TV mirrors. Look: you either use the mirror or watch TV. You don’t see people selling a book-in-a-book do you? But as I always say, folks, it’s your money. If spending thousands of dollars on a tiny LCD screen is your thing, then Seura’s The One TV mirror might just be the one for you.

There are days when you can’t help but think, y’know, maybe it’s time to take down the action figures and buy a tasteful cabinet to house all the gaming gear. Maybe get some window treatments and experience a coming of age in design.
