The Transformers turn 30 this year. Fortunately, we don’t just have Michael Bay’s upcoming movie to mark the occasion. Hasbro will also be releasing a tongue-in-cheek homage to its money-printing toy line’s roots. The Transformers 30th Anniversary Tour Edition casts some of the robots in a glam metal band called Knights of Unicron.

If you grew up in the 80’s or have watched the Transformers movies you know who Optimus Prime is – the 18-wheeler Autobot and leader of the good guys. If you have the Uber app installed on your phone, you have a chance to hail Optimus Prime to come to your location in certain areas.

Growing up in the ’80s I got to spend lots of hands-on time with the original Transformers toys and watched plenty of the cartoons. Kids today get the feature films, which aren’t as cool as the original stuff to most of us.

These Transformers trucker hats will actually transform you. Kind of. They will make you a robot in disguise. Or maybe just a human in disguise. You will be able to join up with the robots. Not really though.

I’ve seen stained glass Transformers and lamps done up to look like helmets, but this is the first time I’ve seen the two combined. This awesome handmade Tiffany stained glass lamp is sure to make any fan of Optimus Prime very happy.

A couple of weeks ago we checked out 80s Tees’ kick ass Voltron hoodie. It turns out the apparel shop also has something for Transformers fans. This officially licensed Starscream hoodie is based on the treacherous Decepticon’s design in the original Transformers cartoon.

As his chosen moniker gives away, LEGO enthusiast Alex Jones aka Orion Pax is a huge fan of Transformers. It’s no surprise that one of his ongoing builds is a replica of his namesake, specifically a Generation 1 Optimus Prime.

Having grown up in the 80s and being a huge fan of the Transformers toys I can admit to wanting to punch Michael Bay in the face over the horrible Transformers films. Bay and his crew were on the set of the latest installment in the franchise and were filming in the streets of Hong Kong, when Bay and his crew were attacked by four “drugged up punks.”

This awesome Optimus Prime steampunk mask is an amazing piece of art. You can wear it or just put it on a shelf. If you do wear it, it has a voice changer built in. This means awesome adult playtime coolness and fun.

While Autobots and Decepticons get their power from Energon, us humans still have to eat food. And what better way to keep your day going but with some delicious carbs!
