Kid Chameleon’s Mac Plus DJ Helmet
January 17th, 2011
DJs are always looking for ways to make their sets unique. I know. I was a techno DJ a few years ago, and you’re always looking for something new. How about making your own DJ helmet, just like those Daft Punk boys? If you don’t have $65,000 and 17 months to make one, using an old Macintosh Plus is a cool idea, for a lot less money.

LA-based Kid Chameleon created this visualizer helmet with his friend Terrence Scoville using an old Apple Macintosh Plus, a bicycle helmet, and an iPad. This was combined with an electroluminescent display, to get all those cool flashy lights.

The helmet is controlled by an iMac running Resolume Avenue, a MIDI Keyboard, and a Wiimote! It looks cool for sure, but it must get hot and uncomfortable in there.

I don’t think I could fit my fat head in there. I’d need an original iMac.
cool gimmick, but just like Deadmau5 helmet, must get pretty sweaty.
