AirStash – Add a Flash Drive to Your iPad or iPhone (Sorta.)

How many times have you wanted to use a flash drive with your iPad or iPhone, but couldn’t? Usually, you end up emailing a document because you had no other way of transferring your information. This is really annoying, seeing as there are sometimes issues with email file transfers, and no Internet access at times. Attendees at CES this week get a first look at the AirStash with WebDAV, a USB flash drive specifically for the iPad and iPhone. This drive offers wireless and USB connections to work with whatever is your preference

This drive has two-way connectivity using WebDAV, and functions with applications like Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. Storing data on an SD card, which can be up to 32GB per card, this device can also stream audio or video wirelessly. Soon, a photo browsing and importing app will be installed so owners can browse and upload photos as well.

As for those that already own an early AirStash, sans WebDAV (meaning you couldn’t actually write to it from you iOS device), you’ll be happy to know that a free firmware update will give you this new functionality. The device is going to set you back $99 (USD), which isn’t bad considering there aren’t many such devices specifically made for your iPad or iPhone.
