uberFAMILY Gets Families a Ride with a Car Seat Inside

 |  |  |  |  May 10, 2014

When my kids were small enough that they had to be in car seats or boosters, we never went anywhere that we didn’t have our car or a seat for them. I never really thought about what you do when traveling with small kids that need a car seat and your only transportation is a taxi or car you hire. Uber has a solution for parents facing this problem.

UberFAMILY is a new service that lets families get a car to pick them up with a car seat installed. Uber is using a custom seat that it developed in cooperation with IMMI that works for kids age one and up.

The drivers in the uberFAMILY program are all top rated and have all been trained and certified in installing car seats. The UberFAMILY service carries a $10 up-charge, and is currently being tested in New York City only. There’s no word yet on a broader roll-out.
