There are only a few 3D movies that I’ve seen that were actually worth it. Most of the others were somewhat disappointing, but check out this PMP that’s supposed to do 3D without any glasses. It’s called the Gadmei P83 PMP from Marvel Digital, and hopefully it won’t harm your eyes when you use it, because we’ve all recently heard the (not so) shocking news that 3D isn’t good for your eyes.

The folks at LG were kind enough to loan me one of their Cinema 3D HDTVs for the last couple of weeks, and I wanted to share with you my experiences with the set, and the 3D technology it uses.

I really like chocolate,and so do my kids. They eat more of it than I do, but I like to sneak me a bit every now and then, as the crumbs in my keyboard can attest.

Once in a while, we get word of something so outrageous and weird, yet quirky at the same time that we can’t help but waste a few precious minutes of our life trying to find out more about this crazy piece of news.

I think the era of 3D was officially ushered in with the release of the Nintendo 3DS. Although the concept and technology has already been around for some time with 3D movies and 3D television, it was only then (in my opinion, at least) that 3D sort of made its way into mainstream technology since 3D was being offered, glasses-free, on the handheld video game console.

I think that once there is more content on TV in 3D and the tech in 3D TVs and glasses gets cheaper we will see a bunch of folks moving to 3D sets. I think the tipping point will be when all sets are offered with passive glasses and sets needing no glasses start trickling out.

You may not know it, but the Nintendo 3DS wasn’t Nintendo’s first attempt at 3D gaming – it’s actually the third. The first system was a little-known 3D system for the Famicom, but the one most people know was the Virtual Boy, first released back in 1995, and despite the initial excitement about the system, Nintendo put a bullet in it about a year later.

While I have to admit that I do think that the whole 3D trend is sort of over, these fashionable glasses from a pair of Norwegian twins are certainly less ugly than the ones we’re used to at movie theaters.

NVIDIA just announced the launch of these new wired 3D Vision glasses, which are supposed to be more cost effective than their 3D Vision active shutter glasses. These 3D glasses connect to your PC via USB, getting power and data over the cable rather than infrared signals.

John Buonvino’s user name on DeviantART says it all: “NES–still-the-best”. He paid homage to his favorite console by making 3D voxel renderings of many popular NES games. Buonvino considers his Super Mario Bros. render below to be his “final 8-bit magnum opus”:

For those not familiar with the Nyan Cat meme, I’ll just assume you’ve been living under a rock, or have better things to do than sit on the Internet watching an 8-bit Pop Tart cat farting a rainbow.

The trend in HDTVs is that they are getting bigger and bigger. That makes me wonder how big is too big? Honestly, until I have a TV that’s the size of my wall, there’s still room to grow.

A guy going by the name CBZ decided promptly when he got himself a Nintendo 3DS last week that the first thing he needed to do was to run out and get himself an augmented reality tattoo.

If you were sitting on your couch, drinking tea with your pinky sticking out as you waited for your butler to bring you your sugar cubes reading about that giant 103-inch BeoVision 4 TV from Bang & Olufsen back in 2009 and wondered what sort of ostentatious prick would buy such a massive and overpriced set, B&O has something slightly less snooty for you.

I’ve heard plenty about 3D printing, but this is probably the first iPhone app that will scan your face in 3D and allow you to render a 3D model of your face. It’s kind of amazing what the iPhone can do, isn’t it?

It’s common today for ultraportable notebooks and netbooks to come without an optical drive of any kind. The notebooks and desktops that do come with optical drives often lack the latest features like support for 3D Blu-ray.
