Portal fans, you might want to hang onto something. Word of advice, up to you. Genevieve Bee made this cool talking and moving replica of Wheatley from scratch.
Genevieve Bee used XPS foam, foamed PVC and epoxy putty to make Wheatley’s body.
Despite being just a hovering orb, Portal 2’s Wheatley is arguably one of the greatest video game characters of all time. At least one of the greatest video game characters without arms or legs. Now, the disembodied, moronic sphere has a body of his own.
…nor does it come with Valve’s approval, because this 7″ replica was made by sculptor and toymaker Victor Creed Chris Hooton aka Sabretooth. Don’t worry, unlike the real Wheatley this toy is not power hungry. Give him three AA batteries and he’ll serve you well.
While I definitely recall the part of Portal 2 where Wheatley takes over Aperture Laboratories, I don’t actually remember the part where he builds a giant Death Star version of himself. Perhaps that’s coming in Portal 3?
While the killer puzzles, GLaDOS (Potato), and Cave Johnson were all highlights of Portal 2, Wheatley tops the list for the sheer quantity of laugh-out-loud moments in the game, if you ask me. Now fans of the game can take Wheatley wherever they go, with one of these personality core rings.
